- Never use in underweight, debilitated, or sick pets.
- This product is flammable and should be kept away from ignition sources, open flame, sparks, and heat.
- This product can irritate the eyes or skin of humans. Thoroughly wash your hands after handling.
- Keep out of reach of animals and children.
- Cats should receive a heartworm test prior to use. Cats with an existing infection should receive treatment before starting this medication.
- No hypersensitivity reactions have been reported in cats with a patent heartworm infection when given 3 times recommended selamectin dosages. No higher dose was studied.
- This product does not kill D. immitis in the adult stage.
- In case of eye contact, use large amounts of water to flush the eyes.
- Although circulating microfilariae could decrease after use, this product is not formulated for clearance against microfilariae.
- Do not use in humans.
- Human reactions have included skin redness, itching, and hives.
- If you have had a previous hypersensitivity reaction to this product, use with caution or consult a physician for advice before handling.
- Do not use on cats under 8 weeks old.
Administration Directions:
- Take tube out of package.
- Hold the tube upright. When held correctly, the expiration date and lot number should be visible (which are printed on the bottom of the applicator tube).
- Snap the tip of the applicator off by bending it backward.
- Part your cat's hair along his or her back. Application should occur in front of the shoulder blades at the base of the cat's neck, and the cat's skin should be clearly visible.
- Place the applicator tip against the cat's skin. Squeeze the tube 3 to 4 times until the contents are completely dispensed in a one location.
- Keeping the tube squeezed, drag the applicator away and lift to remove the applicator from the cat's skin.
- Look at the applicator to verify thorough dispensing.
Take care during application:
- To wait 24 hours to shampoo or bathe the pet
- Not to massage into the skin
- To dispose of the empty tube properly (in your regular household garbage)
- Not to apply to a wet coat
- Not to apply to broken skin (because of the alcohol content of the product)
- To avoid contact with your own skin
Hair discoloration, stiffness, or clumping, may occur at the application site, as could a powdery residue.These signs are normal, short-term, and require no treatment.
Your veterinarian will have specific instructions for dosage and use, which should be closely adhered to. Recommended dosages are:
- Up to 5 Pounds: Mauve (15 mg selamectin in each 0.25 mL tube)
- 5.1 to 15 Pounds: Blue (45 mg selamectin in each 0.75 mL tube)
- 15.1 to 22 Pounds: Taupe (60 mg selamectin in each 1 mL tube)
