How does Clomicalm Tablets for Dogs work?
Clomicalm (clomipramine) is a tricyclic antidepressant that affects chemicals in the brain (serotonin) that may become unbalanced leading to behavioral problems in dogs. Clomicalm treats separation anxiety in dogs. Separation anxiety is, in many cases, the root cause of behaviors such as excessive barking, inappropriate elimination, and other destructive tendencies.

What are the side effects of Clomicalm Tablets for Dogs?
Clomicalm tablets have been proven to be well tolerated by dogs. The following adverse reactions have been reported: lethargy/depression, elevation in liver enzymes, vomiting, diarrhea, and increased thirst. Since the most common side effect is vomiting, it may help to give your dog CLOMICALM Tablets with food.
What special precautions are there?
There are some medicines that should not be used with CLOMICALM Tablets. DO NOT use in conjunction with the Preventic collar or Anipryl (selegiline) tablets. Always consult your veterinarian before giving any medicine to your pet. The use of CLOMICALM is not authorized in breeding dogs. In dogs with cardiovascular dysfunction, epilepsy, narrow angle glaucoma, reduced gastrointestinal motility or urinary retention, CLOMICALM should be given with caution and only after an assessment of the benefit risk ratio.
What to do if overdose?
Contact your nearest emergency animal hospital.
How can I store Clomicalm Tablets for Dogs?
Store in a dry place at controlled room temperature, between 59° and 86° F (15-30° C). Store unused tablets in the original closed container.
Helpful Tips:
It is not necessary to give CLOMICALM Tablets with food in order for the medication to work; however it may decrease the potential for vomiting.

CLOMICALM is administered orally at a dose of 1 - 2 mg/kg clomipramine twice daily to give a total daily dose of 2 - 4 mg/kg

CLOMICALM may potentiate the effects of CNS active drugs. The administration of CLOMICALM is not recommended in combination with, or within 2 weeks of therapy with, monoamine oxidase inhibitors.The use of CLOMICALM is not authorized in breeding dogs.
